Hi everyone, I recently got indexed in the major search engines and it is my goal to get this free page on the first page of Google, Yahoo, Bing and Duckduckgo for as many different SEO related keywords as possible. I will be keeping everyone informed of the progress, and I will not be making use of social media or artificial tricks (just to show you that it is possible to reach the top using a free webhosting account and basic SEO techniques).

I opened this blog only 12 days ago on the 10th of March, 2020 and I am already listed on the frontpage of DuckDuckGo, Bing and Yahoo for keywords like “DebbySEO”, “Debby SEO plugin” and others. The Google Pagerank for my blog is currently 1/10, you can see a snapshot of the listings below:

I would like to ask you for a favor. Please take a moment to search for “DebbySEO” in Duckduckgo, Yahoo and Bing and leave a comment on my blog mentioning where you are from, and what our ranking is where you are at. Make sure to click the link to our site so it will show in our analytic reports, and in return I will submit your blog or website to 101 different sites that will immediately increase your backlinks, no charge whatsoever.

Google indexed us yesterday and then immediately dropped us, probably because offsite links have been published on pages with low relevance. I’ve managed many websites and communities over the years but I am not a blogger; this is experimental for me. I don’t want any paid links from existing SEO websites because that would put me right on top, and this way I can see how long it takes for them to catch up with me using free resources only.

Eeeew I’m always a little uncomfortable Googling myself.. People just sit there, staring at their cellphones and then Googling themselves.. that’s kind of weird isn’t it?

Below you can see the WP traffic stats for today. I set the clock to EST but even so WordPress is always 5 hours ahead of me. Probably a bug in their system. One of the reasons I always preferred plain HTML sites is because they were more reliable and also faster. If you have a subscription website a single day downtime can cost you a fortune, and after a WP update database and plugin errors are not uncommon.

If you liked this post please comment below and tell us where you are from and how you found this site. Your comments are oxygen to me, thanks for sharing the love!
Warm Regards,
Debby Winter

I think it was 6 a few days ago but it cant be any higher since the site was created less than 2 weeks ago and I have only been using the WP reader for promotion. How much traffic do you get on average from search engines? I hope you don’t mind me asking..

Very little. I have been busy solidifying the keyword, “Brother’s Campfire”. It is not something a person would be looking for.

No the video does not start, it only shows the progress bar on the bottom. These are the kind of issues that caused me to avoid WP for years.

Thank you Renard I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Would you mind sharing if you are getting decent traffic from organic search engine rankings?

π Where organic search is concerned, things are fairly okay for my blog.

There are some simple changes you could make to change your target audience. Likely it should have the keywords “poems” and “stories” in them. Have you considered doing SEO on your site or maybe getting help from someone to guide you in the right direction? Since you are a daily blogger it would be really beneficial and you will be able to monitize your traffic and make good money of your efforts. Search engine optimization allows many people to quiet their job once they find a niche market.

Which search engine gets you most traffic? I usually get around 80% from Google and 20% from the other engines. I try to avoid social media platforms as the quality of traffic is unfortunately very poor.

I put poems, poetry where applicable. I typically use fiction and fantasy. As for making money on my blog, I am not too worried at this point. I do plan on having “Fashion Friday for the family poshmark and Ebay.

Bummer. I am self hosted. I bet it works outside the WordPress application.

It’s nice when one can affort to be a writer π It always surprises me how many talented scribes are out there who are simply not aware how to monitize their traffic. To me SEO and making money online is a lot of fun. Anyways, if you need any advice don’t be a stranger π

Could be, some connections are terminated by their firewall for imposing a risk. Not sure if this would be the case for video? It seems rather odd.

It’s funny how sometimes you can be indexed on top of Bing, Yahoo and others, but still not get a decent amount of traffic from them. What’s the most traffic you have received from Google in one day?

π I would have to go with eight referrals from Google in a day’s time.

It is embedded in the site. I do not know. It is 8 seconds and less than 4 megabytes. It works for me and and a few others. Oh well.

I will not be a stranger! I get perks for writing some things. An example would be all the Legendary Breakfast posts. A compliment keeps them coming!

Ouch, by judging your website and the amount of time you put into it I expected more. Do you realize that if you practice SEO and target the right niche keywords, you can easily get over 3000 visitors daily.

Today there were problems with pingbacks as well so it must be an internal server error, WP is connecting over 6 million websites I’ve heard.

π Oh, with a self-hosted SEO blog I would be able to acquire the number that you have mentioned (I would be able to use the Yoast SEO plugin to help me with that).
Yes, I agree that keywords are an important factor when it comes to getting incoming traffic from Google.

You do not necesarily need a self-hosted solution to succeed with SEO, even with a free account you can optimize your site and rank on the first page in Google. Making proper use of tags, keyword density and relevant link building is a must.

Most people are not used to getting traffic because they don’t know how to use SEO in their advance to light a fire so to say. Imagine the money you can make if you have conversion rates of 0.5% (which is low). With you being a writer I am sure you are great at writing a sales pitch, testimonialls etc.

π I didn’t focus on SEO but have ranked on the first page of Google more than once; the two blog posts that I can recall that did extremely well from the top of my head was, “Tygpress Scrapped The Living Daylights Of WordPress” and “Replacing Windows 7 With Linux”.

Yes sometimes you write an SEO article and it just takes off and drives loads of organic traffic from Google and other search engines. The difficulty is turning your visitors into sales. Writing well converting sales pages requires considerable skill.

Probably, but I do not have the heart for SEO right now. At work, I write a lot of reports, and writing fiction is a way to blow off steam.
