Improve your Business' Search Ranking on Yahoo!
Almost there, a listing in Yahoo on page 1 makes all the difference!

Our SEO work paid off! In the image above you can see how we ended up on page #2 of the Yahoo search engine index. Yesterday we were still ranked on page #12, and this blog was created only 2 weeks ago. It is my firm belief that the ranking has to do with links in the resource section because when I disabled the outgoing links I was unable to find our site in Yahoo.

Once you learn how to do keyword research for the best terms and phrases (longtail and short) you will be able to look for a market niche where you have little or weak competition so you can easily squeeze in. “Quotes about SEO” is one of those niches. Keep in mind that 95% of all visitors will only click on the first 10 results in Yahoo (and this goes for all search engines for that matter) so we must keep working on better rankings until we meet our goals.

The SEO lesson for today in regards to page 1 Yahoo rankings is that an important part of SEO boils down to providing relevant external links. For me it has always worked best to list such links on a different page (although wikipedia does it on the bottom of the same page and their links are do-follow btw). Using more than one original image or picture that matches the keywords you are targeting has a beneficial effect. I usually go for four or five images although I admit I do not always reach my goals.

To be clear, if I am writing an article on how to improve your business’ ranking on Yahoo I want to include a link to Yahoo on the resource page, and add a description in which I explain what I think of them. Normally I will also add a snapshot of the page as search engines really like that a lot. I additionally want to include the keywords touched in the article that I have written. You can see an example by clicking on the resource link in the menu on top of our homepage.

I hope these tips have been useful and that you will be able to improve your business’ search ranking on Yahoo. If you found this article useful please like and share. Your valuable comments are oxygen for me. Have a cheerful day!

  1. Thanks for your reply comments are my oxygen πŸ˜‰ Do you practice SEO for your site or does your traffic come from the WP reader?

  2. SEO for your website would do you a lot of good. If you manage to get on the frontpage of Google you can expect somewhere between 1000 – 3000 visitors daily depending on the search volume. If you need any help don’t be a stranger, advice is free πŸ˜‰

  3. For starters you will need to install Google analytics and Google webmaster tools, you can create a free account at analytics.google.com and their code can then be added to your wordpress blog. This gives us the ability to track and analyze your current traffic, identify where it comes from and which keywords would be beneficial to target.

  5. I understand, I checked and you are already listed in the major engines but you are not getting much traffic because you’re not on the front page. You should know that 99% of visitors do not bother to look on the second page or beyond. Do you mind sharing how much traffic you currently get?

  6. I haven’t seen your analytics report but based on your content it is my guess that you can multiply your traffic 10 fold with an SEO campaign. Did you sign up for analytics? You will be required to verify your address and then they will provide you with code which is to be added in the administration area of wordpress.

  7. I would signup Google Analytics anyways, the approval process will take some time since they verify your address.

Since you have a highly targeted website I recommend that you either upgrade to a premium package or sign up with Bluehost, they are offering $2.95/month hosting packages for WordPress and that way you will be able to to install SEO plugins and have full control.

If I were you I would look into the sales of Freddy Mercury T-shirts so you will start making money from your site. You could either sell the tshirts from home or look for a dropshipper.

  8. But you could switch from wordpress to bluehost, instead of paying $4/month you will be paying only $2.95. And by the way Bluehost is recommended by WordPress. I am sure that you can make enough money selling t-shirts to compensate for the webhosting cost. If only 1 out of 1000 visitors buys a shirt this means you sell 1 shirt every 5 days on which you make about $15 dollars profit, which means around $90/month. You would even have enough money to have me do some of your SEO work πŸ˜‰ You just need some good looking photos of the tshirts you plan on selling and a paypal account.
